The digital geological map shows the surface geology. The map is a result of the systematic geological mapping of Denmark. The map is digitized from maps originating from fieldwork, where sediment samples are collected at 1m depth using a hand auger with a sample spacing of 100 - 200 m. This version 4.0 from 2015 classifies 88 % of Denmark's area. The map is supplemented in an ongoing process. The legend shows 82 different sediment types. The map is published in GEUS report 2015/30, where further information is available in Danish.

Geological map of Denmark 1:200.000 version 2. The map shows a countrywide classification and distribution of sediment types (mostly glacial and postglacial sediments) at the surface of Denmark. The map is based on Geological surface Map 1:25.000 in areas that are mapped. The remaining areas are interpreted based on drill hole information, landscape analysis and other available information. The legend comprise 12 different sediment types and therefore it is a simplified map compared to Geological surface Map 1:25.000. During the compilation there has been a shifting of the map in certain areas. This can build up to an uncertainty of up to 200 m, in some places a little more. The map is suited for educational use and as a background layer for other mapped themes shown in the scale of 1:200.000. The map is not recommended for other purposes where greater precision is required. The map is published in GEUS report 2011/19 (in Danish).
